Steinbeis Europa Zentrum Stuttgart (SEZ)

The Steinbeis Europa Zentrum has the responsibility for the financial and administrative coordination of the POLYCITY project. SEZ is an independent economic entity within the Steinbeis Foundation for economic promotion in Baden-Württemberg. SEZ is a non-profit public body. Its core activity is the promotion of EU RTD programmes and of transnational cooperation and technology transfer.
Town of Ostfildern

The Town of Ostfildern with a total of 400 employees is managed by a Lord Mayor and two mayors, one of which coordinates the POLYCITY activities. Today, it is composed of four departments with a very modern and flexible structure. The town considers itself as a company with different owner-operated municipal enterprises or GmbHs respectively, responsible for construction, rehabilitation, infrastructure etc.
Siedlungswerk Stuttgart GmbH (SWG)

The Siedlungswerk Stuttgart is a large building society with a long experience in low energy building construction combined with solar thermal heating plants. SWG will construct a section of low energy residential buildings in the Scharnhauser Park project and will implement additional features in their building projects to reduce consumption even more than usually.
Stadtwerke Esslingen (SWE)

SWE is a modern energy service company which is responsible for the classical gas and water supply and also for the long-distance energy supply for the core city. The energy supply company Stadtwerke Esslingen (SWE) is the main share holder of the Scharnhauser Park biomass co-generation plant and operates the complete district heating network. SWE will optimise the plant and network performance through the integration of buffer storage systems and will introduce thermal cooling plants for the commercial development of the site.
Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS)

The WRS has initiated a number of Competence and Innovation Centres, amongst which the Competence and Innovation Centre for Solar Technologies and Energy Services KISEM will participate in the project. The WRS supports interested companies, willing to establish themselves in the Stuttgart Region and promotes their investments for planning and execution at the market.
Institute of Energy Economics and the Rational Use of Energy (IER), University of Stuttgart

The Institute of Energy Economics and the Rational Use of Energy (IER) as part of the University of Stuttgart, is actively involved in interdisciplinary research and advanced teaching in the fields of energy economics, systems analysis of energy and environment and the rational use of energy. IER will be responsible for the modelling and optimisation of the energy systems of the demonstration sites, the development of strategic recommendations for the integration of the supply and demand side and for integration of the biomass based energy technology systems.

zafh.net is a public research centre for sustainable energy technologies in buildings and regions. The zafh.net has its main competence in the development of thermal heating and cooling technologies, low energy buildings and in simulation supported building control.
