Visions of Sustainable Urban Energy Systems

Visions of Sustainable Urban Energy Systems are the topic of POLYCITY's International Final Conference in Stuttgart's Wagenhallen, Germany from 16th to 17th September 2010, to which we would like to cordially invite you. The start of the conference is the CITYNET Workshop followed by the Excursion to the German project area "Scharnhauser Park" on 15th September 2010.

The CITYNET Workshop on 15th September, presenting how to use the newest renewable supply simulations for communal energy management, followed by a excursion to the German project-area "Scharnhauser Park", where the renewable supply simulations have been tried and tested. The Excursion to the German project area "Scharnhauser Park" includes a biomass ORC power generation, district heating/cooling, efficient office and residential building projects.

During the conference we will discuss worldwide examples of highly efficient urban quarters with renewable energy among the POLYCITY urban quarters in Germany, Italy and Spain and other European cities as the USA and China. The guest speaker, Dr. Franz Alt, author, journalist and TV editor speaks about the "future of cities" on 16th September followed by the conference party with live music which invites you to enjoy the particular ambiance of the conference venue. Innovative energy supply concepts using solar thermal, biomass and photovoltaic are discussed together with energy management strategies on the second day. An accompanying exhibition presents information about European urban projects.

Tanja Gönner, Minister of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg is the Conference Patron.

POLYCITY is a project of the CONCERTO initiative for Sustainable Urban Development. In focus are energy efficient buildings, the use of renewable energies and large scale energy management systems. CITYNET is a European graduate school for a sustainable urban Development and on urban energy management. Both projects are co-funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Stuttgart University of Applied Science, zafh.net. Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum is responsible for the administrative and financial project management.
